An update on something we mentioned a few weeks ago: auto-mapping just got smarter.
When we first launched “bring your own Excel,” the mapping engine worked off a fixed set of rules — reliable for common column layouts, less so for the messier, more unusual ones every manufacturer seems to have somewhere in their catalogue.
We’ve now added AI to handle exactly those cases.
How it works, in practice
Structured column headers still get matched instantly, the same way as before. Anything the system doesn’t recognize confidently now goes through an additional AI pass that reads your headers and sample values and proposes a mapping.
What hasn’t changed
You still see every mapping before anything is processed — rule-based or AI-suggested, each is marked clearly, and low-confidence suggestions are flagged for a closer look. Nothing gets applied automatically without your review.
The result: fewer columns left for you to map by hand, without giving up the control that makes this trustworthy in the first place.
Already testing it on real-world spreadsheet structures — works well on the “creative” spreadsheet structures we’ve seen so far.
